Industrial Working Group
Founding Date of the Industrial Working Group:
The Industrial Working Group was established on the basis of an initiative of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It started to operate on 01.08.19.
Objective of the Industrial Working Group:
The Industrial Working Group is a B-to-B platform with a limited number of members, all of which belonging to the defined industry. Its main objective is to characterize the current status of the specific industry in Egypt and to actively contribute to its further development. The members of the Industrial Working Group are prepared to summarize the findings / proposals (“Discussion Paper”) and to discuss the agreed objectives with Governmental, institutional or economic organizations, associations or any other entity to assist the further development of the defined industry in Egypt (hereafter called “Counterparts”).
The Industrial Working Group and the Counterparts may agree on further initiatives to foster the industrial development.
Role of the Chamber:
The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (hereafter called “the Chamber”) offers its members a variety of platforms to exchange, develop and to mediate economic or business-related information.
The Chamber assists the Industrial Working Group:
- Planning of / Invitations to all meetings, discussions or other relevant / agreed gatherings. Such meetings can be held in the premises of the Chamber or in the corporate offices of its members on a rotating basis. The objective is to ensure regular meetings.
- Secretarial Function: The Chamber will combine all gathered information into a Discussion Paper and present the same to the members via circulation or in meetings, as agreed upon during the discussions. If not agreed otherwise, general minutes of meetings will not be established.
- Assistance Moderation Function: The Chamber will establish / discuss with Head of Industrial Working Group and thereafter circulate an agenda prior to each meeting and will summarize the major findings of the previous discussion at the start of each gathering. Moreover, the Chamber will assist the Moderator best way possible to ensure a smooth and successful meeting.
- Technical Assistance: The Chamber provides the framework and technical support for the working group to be in operation.
Logistics Working Group
The Logistics Working Group represents logistics service providers in freight forwarding, express delivery, customs brokerage and consumers of logistics services. It serves as a platform for companies to exchange best practices and engage in constructive dialogue with government stakeholders in Egypt to provide a more efficient environment.
Mr. Ahmed El Fangary, Country Manager of DHL Express Egypt has been appointed chair of the Group jointly with Ms. Heike Schaulies, Branch Manager, Blue Flag Freight Logistics and Mr. Tarek Fahmy, Chairman & CEO MSC Egypt. All are committed to put a lot of effort in setting a path and a strategy for the group.
- The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce held its First Logistics Working group on Monday, 11th of November at the premises of the GACIC.

- The Logistics Working Group held its second meeting on Wednesday, 29th of January at the premises of DB Schenker. The company MTS was invited to give a presentation on the recently developed system for the National Single Window Platform for foreign trade.

Healthcare Working Group
The working groups creates a forum for healthcare players to discuss issues of concern, share best case practices, and promote positive change. A sustainable health and care system is achieved by delivering high quality care and improved public health. The Group is composed of pioneer Egyptian and German Companies in Egypt and are well informed of the Egyptian strategies, plans and legislations in this sector.
Our chair for the group is consultant Martin Janzen, partner of Ntsal company. Mr. Janzen has over 13 year experience in consultancy and worked across more than 15 different countries in Europe and the MEA region across multiple industries. His consulting specialization lies in the Corporate Strategy development, commercial excellence programs, developing and monetizing holistic ecosystems for B2B, B2B2C and B2C, monetization strategies, digital strategies and transformation. He also co-authored several industry specific publications.
Agriculture Working Group
The Agriculture Working Group is a new working group among the working groups of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The business group includes agriculturists who grow crops and cultivate the land; and are responsible for the import and export of fruits and vegetables. This group should be a platform for companies to discuss issues of common interest, exchange best practices and experiences, and create dialogue between the government and private sectors, to work on developing the agricultural sector in Egypt. Also, the industrial working group should work to represent companies in front of the government and the concerned authorities and works to solve the challenges faced to advance and develop.
Mr. Hesham El Naggar, CEO of Daltex Corporation was elected President of the Agriculture Working Group and Mr. Mohamed El Banna, Vice President Agreen was elected Vice-President of the Agriculture Working Group and Mr. Amr Shaheen Supply Chain Manager, Raya Foods was elected Vice-President of the Agriculture Working Group.
All are committed to putting a lot of effort in setting a path and a strategy for the group.
The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce held its First Agriculture Working group on Monday, 27h of February 2023 at the premises of the GACIC.
During the meeting, 3 main topics were chosen for discussion and work to develop and improve them during this year 2023:
- Amending the Agriculture Associations law in Egypt
- Amending the regulating and exchanging pesticides law in Egypt
- Germany's new Supply Chain Due Diligence Act
Automotive Working Group
The Automotive Working Group (WG) is a new WG among the Chamber’s Working Groups Logistics, Agriculture and Healthcare. This Working Group brings together assemblers, manufacturers and importers of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, automotive components, and automated systems. It serves as a platform for companies to discuss issues of concern, exchange best practices and engage in constructive dialogue with government stakeholders in Egypt to assist the further development of the automotive industry in Egypt.
Dr. Ahmed Fekry Abdelwahab, Managing Director of East Port Said Development Co., National Egyptian Railway Industries Co. and Egyptian German Automotive Co. has been appointed chair of the Group.
The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce held its First Automotive Working group session on Monday, 29th of August 2022 at the premises of the GACIC.
Pharmaceuticals Working Group
Among the working groups of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the pharmaceutical working group is a recent addition. Pharmaceutical firms are part of the business group and are in charge of producing pharmaceutical products. This organisation should serve as a forum for businesses to talk about topics of mutual interest, share experiences and best practises, and foster communication between the public and commercial sectors in order to further the growth of Egypt's pharmaceutical industry. The industrial working group should also seek to resolve obstacles to advancement and development while advocating on behalf of businesses before the government and relevant authorities.

The German - Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce held the first meeting of the working group for the pharmaceutical industries on Wednesday, 4 October 2023, at the German Chamber headquarters in Cairo, in the presence of several representatives of pharmaceutical companies in Egypt.
