The three-day fact-finding mission on "Energy Efficiency in the Industry" in Germany took place from July 10 – 12, 2023, in Berlin and surroundings and was organized by DEinternational in cooperation with RENAC AG as part of the German Energy Solutions Initiative, supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The event aimed to provide participants from Jordan and Egypt with an extensive overview of energy efficiency applications in the German industry.
Energy experts form Jordan and Egypt joined this fact find mission starting with the opening event which featured presentations by experts from various German institutions and associations. They discussed the current market trends, key players, and latest technologies related to energy efficiency. The presentations covered topics such as solar process heat, systemic efficiency approaches, energy efficiency networks, resource efficiency in manufacturing, and measures for decarbonization in the industry.
The following days involved visits to German reference projects and companies, allowing participants to review products and interrogate applied technology solutions. This offered valuable insights into the specific challenges faced by the industry and the approaches to address them through framework design, conditions, and standards.
The fact-finding mission successfully provided the delegates from Jordan and Egypt with valuable knowledge and practical information on energy efficiency practices in the German industry. Dr. Eng. Adel Beshara, CEO of GEEPM, GSE and GREEE from Egypt confirmed this by saying:” I have to confess that with my 50 years of energy practices and the many organized missions I have joined all-over the world, I have never been exposed to a such well selected two industrial zones and factories in the city of Berlin with a coverage of a vast variety of energy effeciency industry measures and real touching success stories in only two days. The individual selection for the sample start-ups and companies we visited were highly responsive to what I personally was looking for.”
While Eng. Fadel Labadi, Manager of Industrial Development Department from the Amman Chamber of Industry not only praised the selected site visits and presentations but also the organization of the trip:
”The mission added a lot to my knowledge and expertise .It was well planned and coordinated. The presentations on the first day were informative and speakers were distinguished in their fields. The fields visits to companies on the second and third days were integrated and complementary to each other covering diversified cases in energy efficiency and renewable energy.”
